10 Minute Executive Presentation

If you are are asked to present to the executives a brief summary of agile and why they should consider it, here is an outline that I use. This presentation attempts to minimize the specifics of any particular method but rather to attempts to bring out the characteristics of agile in general.

Don't spend more than 2 minutes on any slide. There can be much more material, talking points and discussion under each of these slides, but with 10 minutes - just get to the point. You're goal is to educate and gain buy-in to the relevance to the organization. If you have some feedback or alternative ways of presenting agile in a 10 minute presentation to executives, I would love to hear about it.

Highlight the evolution...

Highlight the wastes and inefficiencies of a predictive process...

Highlight the difference in approach...

Highlight the iterative, empirical processes required to create innovative software...

Highlight the manifesto items and why they are important...
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan
Highlight the potential results of an effective agile team...
  • Increased customer involvement and satisfaction
  • Reduced product time-to-market & customer response time
  • More innovative products
  • More adaptive organization with self-organizing, empowered teams
  • Increased team collaboration, efficiency, focus, and morale, motivation and feedback
  • Increased business value – increased profits
Highlight that transition and implementation requires investment
  • Corporate buy-in and aligned values & objectives
  • Resources & Roles (new or changes depending on current organization)
  • Education & Training
  • Transition & Ramp up time

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : @Armond_M sorry, no recording of my Leading Agility "Inside-Out" from #RallyOn2012. Will look for a future recording opportunity.

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : (time lapse) I DID IT! I ran a 44:30 10k - on a flat sea-level course in Seattle in cool weather. Mile high #BolderBoulder next.

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : Amazing - 5:20am in Seattle hotel, all 9 treadmills are busy. Good motivation to run outdoors today.

Armond_M (Armond Mehrabian) : @petebehrens Thanks for sharing the slides. Is there a webinar-like presentation of these slides somewhere? #RallyON2012
