The Culture of Agility

PlayAugust 2011 @ Agile 2011 (updated from presentation in May 2011 @ Agile Denver Talk)

Agility as a process is well understood today in feedback generating iterations or as a flow. Agility as a structure is becoming better understood through cross-functional teams working collaboratively. However, Agility as a culture has very little exposure - yet culture impacts every attempt at agility.

This presentation provides a language for organizational culture, its impact on agility, and examples where exposing culture has aided adoption. We explore cultures within single organizations, sub-cultures across boundaries within larger organizations, and cultures bridging a corporate merger.

Jeffrey,

Thank you for your interest in the Culture of Agility. Since my presentation is in Keynote, I do not have a PPT version of it, but you should be able to download the PDF from Slide Share. If not, I can send you a PDF version directly.

Pete, caught your presentation at Mile High Agile and you and I operate on the same page as far as philosophy except from opposite ends-- I go after the business requirements that screw up the communication within the company and the channels making more coding issues and get rid of them so the technologists can fix and build what drives the company to the next level and then some.

Your presentation on the web site was in slide share and I wanted to integrate some of your graphics into a new presentation I am working on for executives. Full credit and promotion of you and your company will be included. Is there a way to get a PPT copy of this presentation. When I final the other presentation I will send you a copy back for approval.

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : @Armond_M sorry, no recording of my Leading Agility "Inside-Out" from #RallyOn2012. Will look for a future recording opportunity.

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : (time lapse) I DID IT! I ran a 44:30 10k - on a flat sea-level course in Seattle in cool weather. Mile high #BolderBoulder next.

petebehrens (Pete Behrens) : Amazing - 5:20am in Seattle hotel, all 9 treadmills are busy. Good motivation to run outdoors today.

Armond_M (Armond Mehrabian) : @petebehrens Thanks for sharing the slides. Is there a webinar-like presentation of these slides somewhere? #RallyON2012
